Anglo-Irish by birth, Seamus Shortt was brought up in England and Spain. He was educated in both countries and completed his language studies in Cambridge/UK, and his studies of Art and Etching Techniques in Ubeda/Spain. After working as a language teacher in Spain for many years, he moved back to England.
In 2014 he was made a Fellow of the International League of Conservation Writers. As a committed conservationist he has been active in environmental issues for many years, becoming a life member of the British National Trust at an early age. He is also a member of Birdingpal and Greenpeace.
The Montevivo books portray a fantasy world of animals in the sierras of Spain. They have a strongly ecological theme and are prefaced by an environmental manifesto.

In his leisure time Seamus enjoys interacting with other animal lovers and spending time in the countryside. As a fluent speaker of English and Spanish, he loves teaching both languages.
